As this summer ends, I'm constantly reminding myself that next summer I'll be living in a different city. Long story short, I've been learning German for the past two years, and this year, I wanna apply for a master's degree in University of Salzburg. So far, I've successfully got my B1-certificate in German, but it'll soon be my 3rd time that I'm trying to get my B2-certificate in German.
I don't do well in the heat and consequently love fall because finally I can go outside reliably. My seasonal depression is summer-based. I think the lack of routine is part of the problem, but for me so is the heat. I am so, so happy that it is finally under 80 where I live. But I'm also a nerd and I love snow days where you can curl up with a book under a blanket.
I also had a personal tragedy this summer and have spent the last couple of months sorting through a grief so overwhelming I almost couldn't cope. The fog is finally clearing, I think, but everything you wrote resonated with me. I normally run to help my mental health, but even running felt like moving through mud and it's been hard to motivate myself to go because there's no joy in it. So I am hoping that my body and brain can return to some kind of normal, where moving and thinking can feel possible and even good again. I hope the same for you.
