Unfortunately, its hard to resist being baited into defending DC (a city I love) and being distracted into a completely irrelevant debate about crime. But that's what they want: people arguing over relative crime rates instead of banding together to resist a military occupation that has nothing whatsoever to do with addressing crime.

Exactly, shifting the topic to crime is to deflect from militarizing the police in Blue cities, to “flood the zone” to scare people about it. DC isn’t exactly the safest place, but it’s a lot more safe than many cities in Red states and they leave that out of the equation on purpose on the MAGA Right. Eliciting fear works on crime, that’s why they do it, also on immigration…it’s bait.

Also, I agree with Jill on PEPFAR in her Tweet…and god forbid I defend anything W did since I blame him + Cheney for being lawless in foreign policy opening the door for the Tea Party, then Trump, then Trumpism in DeSantis, Abbott, Vance, and company…but on that, it’s one of only two good things W ever did imo so it being gone is a bad thing.

Imagine if Lincoln could see what has become of the GOP. He must be rolling in his grave

I wonder at what point do blue states try to peel off?

If Trump gets no check next year, sooner than many think imo.

I keep saying a national abortion ban w/no exceptions is where they want to go, and if they try it if Trump holds his trifecta after 2026, then Blue state secession will be on the chopping block.

(Aka the Reps need to be crushed badly next year before it’s too late)

I wonder if it could be finessed by reporters asking Trump if he is considering cutting blue states off from the union. I wish.

Blue states fund red states, so Trump would never let blue states go. He wants to dominate and suppress them.

However, I would like to see CA and NY try withholding their federal taxes.

I don’t know how we could actually make that work considering that our taxes are all paid individually and the IRS information linking voters and bank accounts has been DOGEd. Would love to know if anyone is brainstorming around this.

I thought some group was but forgot who/where.

He'll certainly give resources to Blue states last, as he did in the first term, but remains to be seen.

The current polarization is untenable, cannot end well, unless Trump is not made a King by 2028.

Trump is either checked, or he's not, and it needs to be in a massive way by next year in November- this meager margin of around D+4 in the generic ballot in 2026 isn't sufficient, but it's certainly the right trend from before, so hope it continues.
