Personally, I do not need one more podcast to listen to. I do better with the written word. If you do decide to launch a podcast, a (decent) transcript would be appreciated!
I'm always happy to see you in my inbox. I've followed your work for a long time and admire you. I was happy to support this work on Substack and will continue to do so.
I really like your feminist lens and appreciate both your unique analysis and curated links. I absolutely do not wish for more content for more content sake - my email is overrun. (I would love my fave feminist substack writers to become a magazine, but alas, that's my wish not yours.) I also appreciate Becky's comment and think a profile of the Women's March and what the heck happened and who they are now would be an incredible piece of journalism - and maybe just helping people find more spaces for feminist activism as there are others writing more in that way. I would also love an online writing workshop or retreat or something in the USA, as I'm trying to fly less for climate, and space to consider how to make a difference through feminist writing in a time that the field is so noisy and crowded would be interesting for reflection and process.
"I would also love an online writing workshop or retreat or something in the USA." Several people have suggested this and I am going to work on it! I just moved to Vietnam so a physical US retreat might be a challenge, but I think a virtual one could work really well...
You're amazing, always a must read for me. I love your curated reading suggestions too! I've learned so much from you and appreciate your thoughtful and incisive criticism and scholastics
Audio/video, yes, but not a podcast. There are too many already.Occasional interviews with authors, experts, etc. on feminism, feminist issues, etc. would be great. Also, audio of your posts (read by you?) would be fun—and useful because I could ‘read’ while driving.
No change necessary though. Love newsletter as is.
I love your newsletters and have no recommendations. I love the Monday digest pointing us to articles related to women in the news that we can follow up on. I love when you dive into something and I always appreciate how, no matter how heinously governments and groups act, you always center to the humanity of the civilians caught in the crossfire. Thank you. Keep writing.
I read over 20 substacks along with newsletters from newspapers and magazines. Your columns are too long . I rarely read the whole thing no matter how good it is.
As someone with no work and less income than I need to pay mandatory bills (along with the incredible number of other people in the same shape), a way or ways to contribute that are not money needs to become possible. We have time, but no money to give or to pay for transportation. Organize us!
I liked something you wrote. So, I chipped in the wanted $35. But it became $70. How did that happen? Please watch that you don't scupper your reputation. Oh no, the word is scuttle.
This is my favorite newsletter and you're one of my favorite writers! I love that you write about the things I'm also thinking about. Also, I like the frequency of the newsletter. I do read many others as well, and when they come too often I end up feeling overwhelmed and a little disappointed that I'll never be able to get to them all.
I do not enjoy podcasts and if you go that route, I am not sure even you could tempt me, haha! I would much rather read.
Thank you for the best newsletter and for caring about what your readers think.
PS I would be interested in your thoughts about the NYT fiasco this week -- "Did women ruin the workplace?" -- and what we, as readers can do about it. I was livid, as I'm sure many other readers are. Currently planning to switch subscriptions to the Los Angeles Times for reported news.
Another topic: would love to hear your thoughts on changing etiquette and the navigation of friendships in the age of generative AI. Some friends and I think that using AI for texting between friends is very rude, other people I know think that it's no different from using ChatGPT to write website copy.
You're one of my favorite journalists, Jill. You write about a lot of interesting topics, and all your articles are very thoughtful and insightful.
You really don't need to change much. Perhaps you could end each post with an open-ended question. It could help start a discussion in the comments section and really get your subscribers engaged.

I just want to see/hear/read more of you in the public space. Your gifts of observation, insight, and expression are truly impressive.

Just a once a week podcast would be cool (but also A LOT of work)

Leave it as it is. A podcast would be the cherry on top, but frankly, you're doing a great job.

A podcast, ideally on video. With guests, but they should mostly agree with you. We have enough antagonism elsewhere.
I liked something you wrote. So, I chipped in the wanted $35. But it became $70. How did that happen? Please watch that you don't scupper your reputation. Oh no, the word is scuttle.
I had better uses for the double-dipped $35.
I'd like to hear you interview people, ideally with views that might differ from your own.
