A Few Thoughts on the Trump Indictment
A healthy democracy protects itself
On Tuesday, special counsel Jack Smith filed an indictment of former president Donald Trump in federal district court in Washington, in connection with Trump’s efforts to delegitimization the 2020 election and secure victory for himself against the will of American voters. This is an unprecedented move, and will have vast consequences. It’s also a necessary corrective and a sign, hopefully, that America’s institutions have weathered the Trump administration’s attacks. A few thoughts:
